  1. Immediate Basic Needs

    The storm may have impacted your day-to-day necessities including access to shelter, food, and water. Contact the American Red Cross for immediate needs: 1-800-733-2767 

  2. Damage Assessments

    Contact the American Red Cross to conduct a damage assessment at 1-800-733-2767.

     Contact your local NDSU Extension agent for agriculture damage assessment. See agriculture recovery programs below.

  3. Document and Submit Insurance Claims

    Work to submit homeowner's insurance claims by providing documentation and photos of damage. See the ND Insurance Department for a post-disaster checklist or for help

  4. Safely Clear Debris

    Disasters can cause or expose dangerous elements including sewage, asbestos, mold. Learn how to stay safe as you clear debris from your property, and see 'Cleaning Up' below for more great information.

  5. De-stressing and Asking for Help

SNAP Replacement

ND residents who participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and lost food due to the recent power outages caused by the June tornadoes, windstorms and hail may qualify for SNAP replacement benefits. Storm Relief Fund

Set up in response to the June 20, 2025 storm events across North Dakota. Grants will go to entities assisting in the response to and recovery from the damage caused by this widespread storm event.

Safely begin to clear debris and stabilize living situation

Wearing gloves, closed-toe shoes, and avoiding hazardous materials carefully begin to remove debris from the impacted area to the edge of the property such as the curb. Holes in roofs or walls can be temporarily patched with a house wrap or tarp and securely fastened with nails or screws.

2025 Grain Storage & Facility Rebuilder Program

On July 1st, 2025, Governor Kelly Armstrong announced a program to help agricultural producers quickly replace infrastructure, such as grain storage, lost in recent severe storms, including storms on June 20-21 that spawned over a dozen tornadoes and derecho straight-line winds.  The program provides two options:  temporary storage support and facility repair & replacement assistance.  The program application period will open on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 and close on December 31, 2025.
