Century Code now codifies the Feather Alert as an urgent message to the public to help locate an indigenous individual who has been abducted or is believed to be at imminent risk of serious bodily injury or death.

This alert serves to address a pressing public safety issue. The U.S. Department of Justice estimates that Native people go missing and are killed at a rate higher than ten times the population they live beside. Learn More

The Feather Alert was introduced and passed in the 2025 legislative session under House Bill 1535 and becomes active August 1, 2025.
