Mandan, N.D. – On January 12, a South Dakota man wanted on a warrant for criminal trespass charges turned himself in to the Morton County Sheriff’s Department.
During protest activity on December 7, 2016, Michael Markus trespassed onto the Backwater Bridge, approached the barricade and proceeded to cut and remove portions of the security wire. After verbally contesting law enforcement, Markus eventually left the bridge.
Law enforcement has made 586 arrests during protest activity since August 10, 2016.
