ND Highway 1806 southbound traffic continues to be restricted six miles south of Mandan – Alternate routes available - Only local traffic and emergency response vehicles allowed on Hwy 1806
BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota Highway Patrol along with the Morton County Sheriff’s Department, continue to restrict ND Highway 1806 to southbound traffic from six miles south of Mandan at the intersection of Morton County Road 138A. Vehicle traffic can proceed northbound through the protest area on Hwy 1806. Digital signage is installed in this area that says “Proceed With Caution”.
Only local traffic and emergency response vehicles are allowed to travel on ND Highway 1806 south of the traffic control point. Alternate routes are available for through traffic.
Numerous traffic hazards can present themselves near the protest site. Pedestrians on the roadway and highway right-of-way, vehicles on the shoulder of the highway, vehicles stopping on the roadway to take pictures, and protesters blocking the roadway are all hazards that have been present and continue to be a potential hazard. The additional safety measures have been put into place to address these issues in order to ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists.
