On August 7th, Gov. Doug Burgum requested a presidential major disaster declaration based on severe drought conditions that continue to plague farmers, ranchers and other residents across much of North Dakota.

Multiple state agencies will provide informational resources for farmers, ranchers and other North Dakotans impacted by extreme drought conditions during a town hall meeting Monday, Aug. 7, in Mott, N.D., hosted by Gov. Doug Burgum and state Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. Burgum and Goehring will address the crowd and take questions starting at around 6 p.m.

The North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) and North Dakota State University (NDSU) N.D. Agricultural Experiment Station are working together to provide relief to livestock producers affected by drought. The agencies have set up a location near the NDSU campus in Fargo to accept hay donations, which will then be offered to eligible producers in a hay lottery. Gov. Burgum issued an updated Executive Order extending waivers for hours of service and weight limit restrictions for drivers of commercial vehicles transporting hay, water and livestock to help livestock producers battling drought conditions.
