Mandan, N.D. - Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier cautions hunters that there may be safety concerns around the vicinity of the protest sites in southeastern Morton County. Areas south of county road 135 to the Cannonball River and east of ND Highway 1806, in a portion of hunting unit 3C, will be restricted due to public safety concerns.
All other areas in unit 3C remain accessible to hunters. If a hunter encounters a Traffic Control Point, they should produce a valid hunting license to advise law enforcement. Law enforcement will allow all valid hunters to proceed.
Landowners within this area of concern with gratis tags are advised to contact the Morton County Sheriff’s Department prior to going hunting.
The wildlife management areas along Oahe reservoir remain open for public access and hunting.
An updated map highlighting the area that is restricted has been attached to this release.
