Bismarck, ND – The North Dakota State Water Commission recognizes the growing potential for flood risks to public safety along the Cannonball River near ND Highway 1806, including the area of the main Dakota Access Pipeline protest camp.
In this video, State Engineer Garland Erbele explains how the region’s record snowfall along with other factors will impact the severity of potential flooding this spring. He also addresses the environmental hazards involved with a camp that at one time housed thousands of people.
The National Weather Service will begin releasing its flood projections on Jan. 27.
